I first met Bob in 2005 when I returned to London with my wife and we began walking daily in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Bob was always ready to share conversation and because I too was a graduate from the University of Guelph we generally would discuss horticulture issues but we often drifted into other topics. I always found Bob to be a well informed and soft spoken gentleman and he was missed after he finally decided to retire.
Having grown up in the Oxford Park neighbourhood and even working a few years in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery myself we also knew many of the same people and I could usually count on Bob to update me on the life progress of many of them.
One of our last lengthy conversations was over a book I had just read entitled, "The Hidden Life of Trees". Unsurprisingly, Bob too had read it. I believe in honour of the man I will read it again and remember.
Rest in Peace Bob...Mark A.
