Obituary of Shawn Paul Duffy

A limb has fallen From our family tree. I keep hearing a voice say “Grieve not for me.” Remember the best times, The laughter, the song, The good life I lived, while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely The sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin Until the day comes We’re together again. On December 23rd, 2024 our youngest and tallest brother, Shawn Paul Duffy passed away peacefully at LHSC-Victoria Hospital, London ON. Born May 20th, 1964 to Michael P. Duffy, Feb 24, 1933 - Feb 18, 2022 and Lillian Duffy (91 yrs) of Picton, ON. Supported by his family Linda (Fred), Mike (Donna), Patrick (Lisa), and Danny (Ann). Shawn leaves his 3 boys - Michael, Matthew and Liam in the care of their mother, Brigitte. Shawn has departed on his final journey, after a brief battle with vital organ failure. He kept his unique sense of humour throughout his ordeal. Shawn loved to travel, Ireland being his favourite. He returned to the Emerald Isle, Tin Whistle in his pocket and a passion for chasing his roots. He knew the best spots and acted as tour guide when Mike and Lillian vacationed there. In the 80’s, fresh out of high school, he backpacked through Europe. Shawn made friends very quickly, joining up with a nomad from New York City and a curious traveller from Japan. Armed with tiny Canadian flag pins, Shawn spread goodwill and friendship, and was recognized by the Canadian Government as a ‘Junior Ambassador’, which he was quite proud of. Decades in the hospitality industry showcased Shawn’s ability to entertain and relate to everyone, no matter your origin or beliefs. He found humour in everything, often quoting his favourite comedians or movie dialogue. He found Monty Python relatable and quoted Billy Connolly bits at an annoying rate. ‘The Boys’ would like to remember their father as the one that introduced them to all genres of music. In Shawn’s final days, his sons comforted him with all of his favourite music. They recall the days of random road trips to ‘anywhere’, and experiencing the weirdness of downtown London together. Shawn’s kindness of spirit will live on in those who will remember him, always. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
