Obituary of John Adin Thomas Dell
DELL Sr., John Adin Thomas – It is with a profound sense of loss that we say goodbye to the greatest dad anyone could ask for, John Adin Thomas Dell Sr., who passed away peacefully on December 19, 2018 at 5:05PM. He will be greatly missed by his five children, Karen (Dave), Jim (Sharon), John (Jo-Ann), Joel (Becky) and Jeffrey (Mari-Lynn), his fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his large circle of friends. Dad loved to invite people into our home but credited Mom with keeping them coming back. Music was his greatest joy, and his Irish tenor voice was glorious (despite being only part Irish). A great showman, he taught us all to sing and perform on stage as the Dell Family Singers, some from the age of three. He belonged to no denomination but encouraged us to have a childlike faith in God and to be independent thinkers. He put family above career, people before ideology, and though not rich by the world’s standard, he proudly said he was the wealthiest man he knew. He has now embarked on the greatest journey of all, to join his mother, Mazie, his many friends, ancestors, and especially his beloved wife and accompanist, Anita (a saint long before she went to heaven in 2011). Thank you, Dad for living the Impossible Dream and challenging us to do the same. Thank you to Longworth Retirement Living, the Sisters of St. Joseph Hospice, the London Regional Cancer Centre, CCAC and Veterans Affairs for their many years of superb service, as well as the staff of Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London. (John was a faithful supporter of Leprosy Mission Canada and Operation Smile). Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019, 2:30pm at Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London, Ontario MOUNT PLEASANT CEMETERY (LONDON) INC.
