Obituary of Clarence John Hoekstra

HOEKSTRA, Carl It is with great sadness that the family of Carl J Hoekstra announces his sudden passing on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the age of 60. Carl was born in Sarnia Ontario on May 15, 1959 to John and the late Betty Hoekstra. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Irene and his children, Derek (Marie-Andree) and Rachel (Dan). Carl was also the proud papa of Lucy. He is survived by his five siblings, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was a quiet and caring man who gave himself wholly to family and friends. He was an active member of the community through his work and blood/plasma donations, had a sweet tooth that kept Bulk Barn in business, loved his dogs enormously and seldom let anyone beat him at card games. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 1 in the Chapel at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London Ontario (located at 303 Riverside Drive). Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate Carl, sharing their fondest memories of him. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes you to honor Carl’s life by donating blood through the Canadian Blood Services, a program close to his heart. Alternatively, donations can be made in memory to the London and Middlesex Animal Humane Society at https://www.hslm.ca/help-us/donate/ or to 624 Clarke Road, London, Ontario, N5V 3K5.
