Obituary of Aileen Pressello
PRESSELLO, ARLENE
(née Aileen McKee)
1939 – 2020
Arlene, previously of Windsor Ont., supported by the love of her family passed away peacefully on March 8th at our London home in her 81st year, succumbing to cancer that challenged her for more than thirty years. Arlene was a tower of strength and energy and graced many with her humor, resilience and unconditional love. Born 1939 in Ottawa, Ontario, predeceased by her parents and four siblings, Arlene was a graduate nurse from Grace Hospital (Windsor) in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart, Ken, in the same year.
Arlene’s family was always her first priority and she devoted boundless energy and enthusiasm to raising her three children and was a dedicated grandma to her seven grandchildren. Mother to Carrie Morton (Ian), Daniel Pressello and Tom Pressello (Christina); cherished grandmother to Ryan, Ashley and Zachary Caldwell, Oliver, Evan, Clara and Oscar Pressello. She will be missed by sister-in-law Carole Garrett and many friends and extended family members.
Arlene had a lengthy career serving for several years as Ontario Regional Manager for Para Med Health Service, retiring in 2000.
A world traveler with visits to: Italy, France, Turkey, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Thailand, China, England, Florida, Tunisia, Bali, Belgium and Mexico. Most memorable of family travels included: spending the 1999 turn of the century New Year’s Eve in Paris, France; travelling with her three eldest grandchildren upon their respective grade school graduations to Paris, France. Another cherished memory was West Coast family skiing vacations at her son’s Whistler chalet with summer visits to their family summer home at Ruby Lake, British Columbia.
In addition to work, raising a family and travel, Arlene was involved in teaching Sunday School, volunteering at the London Museum gift shop, May Court, Red Hat Ladies Club, London Garden Club, member of Sunningdale Golf and Country Club and Thames Golf Course, ten-pin bowling (one of the top female bowlers in London), five-pin and carpet bowling, downhill skiing and a ladies’ poker club.
Over the years, Arlene embraced the company and interaction with her circle of friends including: Ilsa, Cathy, Sharon, Ellie, Myung Ja, Jane, Linda, Carole G., Clare, Madelyn, Roma, Bonnie and many others. She was a remarkable person, who lived life on her own terms and will not be forgotten.
In keeping with Arlene’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a private internment with a celebration of life to take place at a future date.
