Obituary of Lorna Margaret Anderson
It is with great sadness we announce her peaceful passing on May 16th in her 76th year. Loving wife of the late John “Jack” Anderson (1992). Lorna’s loving and caring heart was always open to all beginning with her career as an RNA at Victoria hospital. After her marriage, their home became a foster home for babies of the Children’s Aid Society of London Middlesex. Lorna loved and cared for over 54 babies many of them requiring her special nursing care in their challenging first year of life. Until eight years ago Lorna was always prepared for the call in the night that a baby was on its way to her home to be loved and nurtured. For her many years of service Lorna received CAS award and recognition as an outstanding example of a foster parent. Her home over the years also welcomed many college and university students caring for each and everyone as a mother. Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends always knew they were welcome at her home. Lorna is fondly remembered by her many babies and students.
Survived by her sister Elizabeth “Betty” Coates and her nieces and nephews: Lorne Brock, Debra Coates, Rebecca Brock Fish, Dan Coates, David Coates and Cameron Brock and their families. Predeceased by her parents Lorne G Brock and Margaret (Cameron) Brock and her brother Wm M. Brock. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Henley Place LTC for the wonderful care and kindness provided over the last few years and a big thank you to the ICU staff at University Hospital for caring for her over the last 3 weeks.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service has taken place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with a Celebration of Life planned in the future when restrictions are lifted. Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Lorna are asked to consider the Children’s Aid Society of London Middlesex.
