Obituary of Irene Emilie Lowe
As a result of complications from a fall suffered this summer, Irene died peacefully at Southbridge London Care Home on Monday, September 5th, 2022.
Daughter of Jacob and Mary Temple, she was raised on a farm in Saskatchewan with her four sisters: Anne Temple and Elsie Assman (both predeceased), Martha Bender of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and Viola Temple of London, Ontario.
Irene had lived in Sudbury until 2014 and was the widow of Fred Lowe and mother of daughters Cheryl (Geordie) Inkster and Laurie (Kirk McIntyre) Lowe, son Sheldon Lowe (Lynda Coad) and stepdaughter Gail (Ashley)Thomson.
She is lovingly remembered by granddaughters Ami and Rebecca Lowe and by great-granddaughters Charli, Abbi, and Rai, as well as her nieces, Gail Morrow and Jill Tansley of London, and western nephews Gerald, Darryl and Earl Bender and families.
Since her move to London, to live with Cheryl and Geordie, Irene made many new friends, in particular at Westmount Presbyterian Church, as well as at Westmount mall where she participated in walking for exercise and in her Westmount neighbourhood. However, she maintained contact with her Sudbury friends, especially Mickey McCrae, mainly by telephone.
On December 6, 2021 Irene celebrated a milestone birthday. She was very pleased to receive congratulatory messages from the Queen (via Governor General) as well as numerous birthday greetings via internet from friends old and new.
Irene was a lovely woman and we all miss her.
Cremated has taken place and Irene will be interred with her husband Fred (d. 1999) in Sudbury. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mount Pleasant Cemetery (London) Inc. On-line condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.mpcemetery.ca
