Obituary of Siegfried Heinrichs
Siegfried followed his beloved Ida one last time when he quietly passed on November 13, 2022 at age 91; Siegfried is survived by daughters Sigrid Heinrichs and Lynn Sherriff (Peter & grandson Andrew Sherriff), sister Willi and brother Ekehard, and pre-deceased by wife Ida Heinrichs, grandson Chip Sherriff, sisters Erika and Annemarie and brother Karl Hans.
In 1955, Sig followed Ida to Canada from Germany, settling in Cochenour, a small town in Northwestern Ontario; they married in the Cochenour church shortly after his arrival.
A skilled wood-worker, Sig started out as a Carpenter at the Cochenour gold mine, then worked many years at the Griffith Iron Ore Mine; following the closure of Griffith in 1986, Sig worked security at the Campbell Gold Mine until retirement to London, Ontario, after very much enjoying 39 years living in northwestern Ontario.
Sig loved the hunt and the haggle for a new car, a charcuterie board with a cold beer, and a good soccer game; he enjoyed card games with family and playing his harmonica, as well as frequently dining out for a glass of wine and a good steak, always generous and treating everyone to lots of food and drink and happy times.
Cremation and private interment has occurred.
