Obituary of Geoffrey Peter Nixon

After a long life full of many blessings, Geoffrey Peter Nixon, 94, of London, Ontario, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Although sadly missed, he will continue to live on in the hearts of his family: his wife of 66 years, Aldine (nee Leathorne), his children Christine (John), Greg (Kim), and Tim (Deanna), grandchildren Ian (Madeleine), Kevin, Trevor, Addison, Mathias, and Daisy, and nephews Graham and Brian (Jackie) and family. He will be joyfully reunited with his parents Harold and Margaret, sister Juliet, and grandson Taylor. Born at home in Aylmer, Ontario, Peter enjoyed an adventurous childhood in the towns of Delhi and Tillsonburg before moving to London to pursue his BA and MBA at Western University. Peter taught high school in the London area for 30 years and he served his community through the Kiwanis Club, Agape Foundation, and his church. Signing his many beautiful watercolours as Geoffrey Nixon, he became known in the art world by that name with galleries both in Lion’s Head and London. Many of his paintings grace homes and offices throughout Canada and the world. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the healthcare staff of University Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care. A service of remembrance will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 1204 Richmond Street, London, on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society to honour Peter’s memory would be gratefully appreciated. God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you And whispered “Come to Me.” Author Unknown
