Obituary of William N. Lamport

Passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, on August 25, 2023 at the age of 62. He was the beloved son of Coral; inspirational brother of Lorraine McElroy (Gerry Hensels) and Greg Lamport (Karen). Proud uncle of Greg and Brad McElroy (Lindsay), Rob Lamport (Carlyn) and Erin DeJonge (Josh); as well as great-uncle of ten. Predeceased by his father William A. and brother-in-law Scott McElroy. Bill will be fondly remembered by his extended family and a multitude of friends. Bill Jr. was born and raised in London. He grew up playing on Jason Court until the sun went down; road hockey, bike racing, archery, baseball and go carts. He pursued interests in disc jockey services, stand-up comedy and public speaking. He developed a passion for car racing at an early age, thanks to his aunts, uncles and cousins. His most cherished pleasures came from time spent with family and close friends. Bill worked several years with the LCBO, eventually leaving on disability due to complications from diabetes. He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 8 and was given renewed life through a kidney transplant at the age of 43. Many thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who assisted Bill throughout his lifetime. Bill was loved by everyone. A memorial Celebration of Life will take place at the Lambeth Legion, 7097 Kilbourne Rd., on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. If desired, donations in Bill’s memory may be directed to Diabetes Canada or the Charity of your choice.
