Don,
My condolences. I recall meeting your Mom through my Mom. They were next door neighbours at St. Andrews. Lovely lady.

Cathy,
Your mom was such a sweet and gentle soul. I know that my parents really missed her when she moved up to the fourth floor.
She passed 6 days before my dad. I am sure that she was part of the welcoming committee when he arrived. He would be happy to see her smiling face. Take care of yourself.
All the best,
Mary-Ellen Romano (daughter of Lou and Vera at the Manor Village)

Hi Mary-Ellen
My sympathy and condolences back to you. I reached out to Walt but am glad to get to correspond with you directly. I’m sad but not sorry. There is a time for the circle of life/death to complete. It was definitely mom’s time. I certainly hope she and Lou are doing their walks together. What a lovely thought. Thank you again for reaching out. I always loved chatting with you in the hall of the Manor. Hugs to all you family especially your dear mom Vera.

Sincere sympathy to Don, Cathy and your families. I have always had a very special niece/aunt relationship with Mabel. I can remember Mabel making a pretty blue brocade dress for me. I can remember visiting your family on Fitzroy Street.
I helped care for Mabel and Hoddie by taking them to Charlottetown to do their many and varied errands. I helped Mabel shop for her groceries each week. I would take all the bags into the kitchen at their home in North River.
Family members stayed at our home when Hoddie died. We were happy to share our home, as we were out of province.
I visited Mabel and Hoddie many times at Andrews of Stratford. I attended Hoddie's funeral and represented the Carmichael family.
Over the years I phoned Mabel when she relocated to London, Ontario. She was always glad to hear from me. I did my best to send Mabel a birthday card each year. I would choose the appropriate aunt birthday card which related to our close relationship.
Mabel will be missed. I am hoping to see all of you at the Celebration Of Life Service in York. Take care. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.
I searched for a photo of Mabel and could not locate one. Instead, I am sending a family photo taken at Fran's funeral.
Lots of love,
Marlene and Lloyd

I met this beautiful soul on the Island with Cathy when we went “home” for an Ultrasound Conference. She and Hoagy welcomed me into their home with a traditional Island Lobster supper, and made sure that I was snugly tucked in at night. So generous. So sweet. Never forgotten. Hugs Cathy and family.
