Obituary of John Jones

Peacefully, surrounded by his four daughters, at Chartwell Long Term Care Residence in London, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, John Jones passed in his 94th year. Preceded by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Betty Jones (1997). Loving father of Diane Cook (Mark), Darlene VanTyghem (Denny), Deborah Millar (Vincent), and Donna Neufeld (Pete). Cherished Papa/Grandpa to Marcia Piquette (Barry), David Cook (Izabela), Amy Gammon (Tyler), Julianne Thompson (Matt), Kyle VanTyghem (Ella), Nathaniel Millar (Kathleen), Noah Millar (Madi), Rheann Neufeld (Corey), and Peter Neufeld (Saleana). Great Papa to Adrean, Dakota, Kacee, Bruce, Wayne, Taylor, John, Elizabeth, Edwin, Addia, and Acacia. John will also be missed by a large extended family in London and Huntsville, Ontario. Born October 5, 1929, John loved being with family and enjoyed telling jokes and stories with his many friends. He travelled all around Canada and the United States with his wife of 42 years before her passing in 1997, and continued his travels with his children and grandchildren later in life. His favourite place to travel to was the family cottage in Port Bruce, where family continues to gather every summer. He spent his last days surrounded by family, listening to Frank Sinatra and family stories. The family would like to extend their thanks to the caring staff at Chartwell for taking care of “Papa John” over the past year. A private family burial will take place in October, and will be followed by a celebration of life early next summer for family and friends at the cottage.
