Obituary of Ronald Allan Payne

Payne, Ronald Allan – Peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London in his 91st year, on November 5, 2023. Survived by his loving wife Karen of 67 years. Born in London, Ontario, he was the son of the late John and Verna Payne. Father of Dr. Gordon Payne (Dr. Lisa Bonato) and Douglas Payne of London. Beloved grandfather of James, Christopher and Victoria. Predeceased by his brother Kenneth Payne. Ron worked for CN Rail for 38 years, starting as an Apprentice in the former London Car Shops, and worked in several Ontario railway centres during his career. He retired as Mechanical Officer in Toronto, and later he and Karen returned to London to be closer to their grandchildren. Ron was a longstanding member of The British Sports Car Club of London. A man of many talents, he was able to fix anything, and was frequently called upon by family and friends for his services. Ron was popular at family gatherings where his delightful demeanor garnered him many hugs from his nieces. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Cremation has taken place. He will be interred at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a private ceremony with his immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a date to be announced.
