Obituary of Frederick Johnathan Wambera
Frederick “Fred” Johnathan Wambera (84) passed away on January 17, 2024 at the University Hospital in London, ON. Fred was born to Johnathan and Elizabeth Wambera on December 15, 1939 in Budapest, Hungary. Johnathan and Elizabeth later immigrated to Canada with their two sons, Fred and Ivan. A proud and loyal citizen, Fred served in the Canadian Army Reserve as a tanker in an armoured unit. Fred later completed training as an X-ray technician, a profession he practiced for over 30 years until retiring from Victoria Hospital in London, ON. Following his retirement from healthcare, Fred began a new career driving for Murphy Bus Lines. Fred was also a proud member of the London Central Lions Club. Fred is survived by his two children Justin Wambera and Melissa Westbrook. He is also survived by his close friends Eric Maddeford, Jan Anthony-Maddeford and J’Nan Sturgis.
Fred was kind, generous and loved talking to people. He was always ready with a joke or a kind word and he took special pride in learning phrases in dozens of languages so he could greet and thank people in their native tongue. Fred was also passionate about giving back to his community, generously donating to numerous charities. A great lover of food, Fred was always willing to try new things and joyfully shared his own creations, especially the jam he made every year.
