Obituary of Barbara Gail Koteles

Barbara "Barb" Koteles (1938 - 2024) Barbara “Barb” of London, passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of Bert Koteles for 50 years and a loving mother to Andrew, Jonathan (Stacey), and Chadwick (Amy). Barb cherished her six grandchildren: Claire, Jacob, Nicholas, Ethan, Thomas, and Gregory. She was a dear sister to Danoise (Bob) Deakin, Catherine (Ron) Smith and Stephen Simpson. Barb was born in London on February 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard and Matilda Simpson. She worked for many years at “The Bell” where she met and fell in love with her husband Bert. They married later in life and Bert showed Barb the joys of living on a farm. The city girl didn’t always love the country but she loved raising her boys there. Barb loved her boys fiercely and was a true mother bear. Always ready to share her opinions, her stories or the odd rhyme from her youth, conversations with Barb were never dull and always marked by the quick wit for which she was so well known. Barb battled, for many years, the debilitating “disease of a thousand faces”, Lupus. A private family service will be held to celebrate her life and honor her memory.
