Obituary of Robert John McKay

October 13, 1950 - Oct 15, 2024 God called Bob home peacefully on October 15, 2024 in his 75th year, and we rejoice that he is now with his Lord and Saviour. Family was everything to Bob. He married his best friend, Sue and they just celebrated 52 years together in October. Together they built a beautiful family. He was a loving father to Karen (Eugene) and Murray (Catherine), playful Papa to Hannah (Jared), Sarah (Matthew), Lucas (Ivey), Gabriel (AJ), Jonah and Faith Anne, and Great Papa to Ellie. He is fondly remembered by his siblings Donna (Eugene) Skinn, Rick (Rita) McKay, and Steven (Cherie) McKay, in-laws John (Marcia), Ed (Lynne), Sandy, Ben(Teresa), Jim (Christine), Doug (Nancy), Tom (Jan), and Carol (Ed) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Bob was predeceased by his parents Don and Vi and parents-in-law, Jack and Millie Blackwell. Bob was a big dreamer. He passionately worked as an architecture technician and manager of building supply stores his entire career. He and Sue would continuously dream and design their future homes with the inspiration of creating a gathering space that was open, bright and welcoming to all. They lived in and blessed many communities together including Goderich, Grand Bend, Kincardine and London. He was always generous with his time and talents to help others with home projects and volunteering in the church and community. His smile, playful spirit and quick wit brought sunshine to everyone he met. The family extends thankfulness to staff of the 4th floor Willow Way at Dearness Home London for your kind and compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held at Oakridge Presbyterian Church, 970 Oxford Street West, London, on November 23 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation starts at 12:30 p.m. and a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name are welcomed at Heart and Stroke, the Parkinson’s Society or Oakridge Presbyterian Church. Online condolences can be shared with the family by visiting Bob's Tribute Wall at www.mpcemetery.ca
