It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of my aunt, Anne Porter. We wish to express our condolences to my cousins with whom I have very fond memories thanks to my uncle Bill and aunt Anne who always provided great family entertainment when we were children. It is remarkable how our son, Matthew and Anne had such a similar love for tennis and I am sure he will always remember that connection.

Anne will be missed by Roger and I, and our daughter Jen who was lucky to meet her on visist to my mother, Betty Yates in London. She always made sure to make contatct, often a gourmet lunch, or at least a drop in with smiles, and hugs! She always said "you look so young!" - I loved that! The Yates' and the Porters' were the last of a wonderful group of friends starting out with first homes, and new families on West Mile Rd. and they knew how to party! The friendships lasted a lifetime. I have fond memories of the" Porter boys"...and the amazing surprise of Julie's arrival! That was your Mom's dream come true! Anne was inspiring to us all and definitely taught us to live, love and laugh!

My sincere condolences to the family. I only met Anne once, many years ago - but know from other family members that she was well loved and respected.

Dear Porter Cousins,
Somehow I think that when a parent lives for a long time you kind of feel they will just keep on going and when they do die it is actually a bit of a shock. I am glad that Aunt Anne went quickly and without pain, as I understand.
I probably won't be able to re-arrange my schedule to attend the service on Wednesday so I wanted to write and share my condolences. No matter how 'grown-up' one is when one's mother dies it is sad.
It's been decades since I have seen any of you. I hope you are all well and that the service is memorable and reflective of Aunt Anne's energy and spirit.
When we were little, well before Julie was born, I went with "the boys" and your parents in their station wagon to the Detroit Zoo for the day. I don't know how old I was. Probably only Tom might remember. We were all put into pajamas on the return journey and slept lying down in the back of the station wagon. It was quite an adventure for me.
Warm wishes and sympathy to everyone,
Suzie

I was so sad -and stunned- to hear to of Anne's passing. She was such a big part of our lives, and especially for our Mom and Dad, Ralph and Betty Yates. Anne was definitely a force of life and a great example to us all. She had such a joy and zest for life....she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
